His father wanted him to be a doctor
John joined a national school with excitement. He had passed with flying colours.
But there was only one problem
He could draw anywhere and everywhere.
He could draw on the covers of his books
He could draw on the ground
He could draw on his palms
He could draw on his arms
He could draw on his legs
He loved drawing
It seemed like it was a problem especially to his high school teachers
His parents were ok with that because they knew he loved drawing.
His primary school teachers were ok with that because they knew it was a talent. They would even encourage him.
Things were different
He was punished
He was physically abused and finally
He was expelled.
The teachers reasoned that
He was drawing everywhere because he was in a cult
Why didn’t they query to understand the young man?
Why did they assume he was in a cult?
Why did they not give him support whatsoever?
Maybe the school was overwhelmed by the number students, thus no time for individual students.
But has there ever been student support?
He could have explored his hidden talent
He could have been enabled to do what he is passionate about
He could not have been expelled from school.
The future of the boy child was getting messed up.
The parents went to school to plead his case, nobody would listen.
They knew that he loved drawing but they also wanted him to be a doctor.
What can we do differently to support the boy child?
P.S.: This happens to girls too.
